Calico Ghost Town Civil War Reenactment 2014

Reading through Little Town on the Prairie and using The Prairie Primer has enabled us to study and memorize the presidents from George Washington to Chester Arthur, along with some of their achievements, failures, and historical events which occurred during their terms.

We have studied the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Battle at the Alamo, the Mexican-American War, and several issues leading up to the Civil War.  Later this week we are going to hold a presidential historical exhibition, similar to what Laura and Carrie had to do in Little Town.

Today, however, we enjoyed the Civil War reenactments held at Calico Ghost Town in Yermo, CA.

Later, the kids were able to meet Abraham Lincoln.  Unfortunately, we missed his Gettysburg Address, and we were unable to make it to the Mojave River Valley Museum in Barstow to view the Emancipation Proclamation, which is there on loan.

I don't think I got as many pictures of the battles as last year, so I included some of my favorites from 2013:
